Asiya booked under PSA, shifted to Kot Bhalwal
SRINAGAR, Sep 2 (PBI): President of Dukhtaran-e-Millat, Syeda Aasiya Andrabi and her close aide Sofi Fahmeeda were booked under Public Safety Act (PSA) and shifted to Kotbhalwal jail in Jammu today.
“Syeda Asiya Andrabi and Sofi Fahmeeda have been booked under PSA and shifted to Kotbolwal jail in Jammu,” acting chairperson of the DeM, Rifat Fatima said in a statement here. She condemned invoking of PSA against the duo as “frustration” of the government. “We also condemn shifting of Asiya Andrabi to Kotbhalwal despite directions by the High Court and Supreme Court in 2009.”
Asiya Andrabi was arrested on August 28 last during a raid at Habak Zakura in the outskirts of the city.
Aasiya had gone underground to evade arrest since Hurriyat Conference (G) launched ‘Quit Kashmir Campaign’ since her detention. She was lodged in Woman’s jail in Rambagh here for past three days.
Official sources said that Andrabi was booked for “inciting people against the state and police.”
The orders of PSA have been issued by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Meraj Ahmad Kakroo, the sources added. Despite repeated attempts, the commissioner could not be contacted for the comment.
