CRPF man killed in Bijbehara attack

ANANTNAG, Apr 7: A para-military CRPF trooper was killed by the militants in southern Bijbehara town on Thursday. The incident took place at around 5.30 PM on old Srinagar-Jammu national highway.
Official sources said the militants fired upon a CRPF party near NH way causing critically injuring one trooper. The injured trooper, identified as Shiv Lal, was immediately evacuated to sub-district hospital Bijbehara. The doctors at the healthcare facility, after the first aid refered the injured trooper to Medical College, Anantnag on the basis of severity of his wounds. However, he succumbed on way to the facility.
A doctor at GMC Anantnag, said that the CRPF man was dead on arrival.
"He had been hit by the bullet in his chest near the heart," the doctor said.
Though some reports suggested that the firing on CRPF party was followed by the grenade hurling which failed to explode. However the reports could not be officially confirmed.
Following the militant attack, forces including army and special operations group of police launched cordon and major searches in the area.
