| | 2 killed in Handwara | | | SRINAGAR, June 30 : Security forces and police claimed to have killed two militants in an encounter in Handwara.
Police said the operation was launched on a tip off in Bawan forest in Zachaldar-Handwara by 21 Rashtriya Rifles and cops during the wee hours of this morning..
As the operation was in progress, militants opened fire and in the exchange of fire two militants were killed, claimed police.
Police said it could not be verified whether the militants had recently infiltrated into the Valley from across the line of control (LOC) or were part of an already existing group. They said the operation was still going on.
A report said a soldier was also injured in the incident. |
