Covid-19: 27-year old youth among 2 die in Kashmir

SRINAGAR, Jun 2: With no letup in Covid-19 deaths, tally jumped to 33 in Jammu and Kashmir after two patients including an elderly lady and a youth from Baramulla and Kupwara districts of north Kashmir tested positive for novel Corona-Virus a day after their death on Tuesday.
A 27-year old youth from Warnu Lolab in Kupwara and elderly women from Khanpora Baramulla districts of north Kashmir became fresh victims of Corona-Virus raising the number of deaths due deadly virus to 33 in Jammu and Kashmir. The swab samples of both the deceased turned out to be positive a day after their death.
Deceased Kupwara youth, who was working as employee in Food and Supplies department died at SMHS hospital here yesterday. He was referred from District Hospital Handwara to SMHS hospital with acute fever.
Confirming the death, Nodal Officer for COVID-19 at Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar, Dr Slaeem said the deceased died due to Pneumonia and was tested positive for Corona-Virus after his death.
He said the dead body of the Kupwara youth has been kept in mortuary and will be handed over to his family who would also be directed to ensure burial as per COVID-19 guidelines.
A lady from Khanpora area of Baramulla district in north Kashmir who was suffering from multiple ailments was brought dead to Government Medical College (GMC) hospital Baramulla a day before her samples tested positive for novel Corona-Virus.
Jammu and Kashmir so far has recorded 33 deaths due to Corona-Virus including 30 in Kashmir valley alone and 04 in Jammu province of the Union Territory with cumulative tally of deadly virus breached 2600 mark.
