Militants killed, 3 army men injured in Kulgam encounter: Police

SRINAGAR, July 4: Two militants were killed and three army men, including a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO), were injured in an encounter at Arreh Mohanpora village of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
An official told media that joint teams of police, Army’s 34 RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation on a specific lead about the presence of militants in the area.
He added that as the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired at the forces triggering an encounter. Two militants were killed. Three army men were also injured.
Police on its official twitter handle confirmed that two militants have been killed in Kulgam encounter and the search operation was on in the area. Authorities have snapped the mobile internet services in the area as a precautionary measure. A police official said identification of the slain militants is being ascertained.
This is the 17th such encounter in the southern districts since June 1. In south Kashmir, 48 militants have been killed since June 1 and in this year so far 120 militants have been killed in various encounters across Kashmir.
