Record number of 97,894 Corona cases on Thurs

NEW DELHI, Sep 17: A record number of 97,894 Coronavirus cases were detected in India in the past 24 hours ending at 0830 AM on Thursday even as the number of those in the hospitals swelled to 10.1 lakh with over 14,000 hospitalised in a single day.
The total confirmed cases of the dreaded virus crossed 51.18 lakh, though 40 lakh of them have recovered by now, giving a recovery rate of 28.53% while the death toll in the country increased to 83,198, with as many as 1132 succumbing to death in 24 hours, lowering the death rate to 1.63% of those infected and accountin for 60 deaths per million population.
So far, 6.06 crore people have undergone testing, 11.37 lakh of them in the past 24 hours.
The Health Ministry website did not update the state-wise data, but the previous day's death of 1290 in the country showed Maharashtra peaking with the highest 515 deaths, followed by Karnataka 97 and Punjab 90.
The WHO dashboard shows the worldwide Coronavirus cases crossing 30 million mark and 9.45 lakh deaths.
