Police foils casual labourers march

SRINAGAR, Oct 21: Hundreds of casual labours from different departments tried to march towards Governor's Office from Sheri-Kashmir Park Srinagar. A huge contingent of police was deployed outside the Park to stop the protesting casual labour employees from marching towards Governor's Office.
Earlier hundreds of Casual labourers from various departments under the banner of Jammu Kashmir Casual Daily wagers Forum, had assembled in Sheri -Kashmir Park and were raising slogans, "we want Justice and regularize our services”.
The protesting employees were accompanied by EJAC Leader Sajad Ahmad Parray, a report of CNS said.
As soon as protesting labourers tried to come out of the Park and starting marching towards main road, police had to use Water Cannons and Lathi Charge to disperse the protesters. During the action police detained many protesting casual labourers who were trying to march on main roads.
EJAC Leader Sajaad Ahmad Parray while speaking to News Agency CNS said, "we had planned Raj Bhawan gherao today but Police was deployed outside the Sheri-Kashmir Park, we tried to come out of the park and police lathi charged us resulting in injuries and more than 100 of our men have been arrested in Kothibagh Police Station."
"Jammu Kashmir Casual Daily wagers Forum has decided that from October 26, 2020, from 8:00AM we are going on Strike for 48-hour strike, this will cause inconvenience to common masses but we are compelled to go for strike because our families are suffering, how can we run and feed our families on these minimum wages", said Sajad Ahmad Parray.
