Maharashtra records highest 9,855 daily Covid cases

NEW DELHI, Mar 04: Maharashtra on Thursday reported the highest 9,855 daily cases of Covid-19, the highest number in the state since 10,259 cases detected on October 18.
Kerala followed with 2,765 cases, Punjab 772, Karnataka 528, Tamil Nadu 489 and Gujarat. The six states continue to report a surge in the new Covid-19 cases, cumulatively accounting for 85.51% in the past 24 hours. A total of 17,407 new cases were reported in the country in the past 24 hours in lieu of 7.76 lakh tests.
India's active caseload rached 1,73,413 on Thursday, which is 1.55% of the country's total positive cases. Seven states of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Punjab, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh showed a rise in the active cases in 24 hours while there was a dip in Kerala, Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh.
India's cumulative recovered cases are following a steadily rising trajectory. AS on Thursday, there were 1.73 lakh active cases, 1.08 crore recoveries and 1,57,435 deaths.
There was not a single death in the past 24 hours in as many as 23 of the 36 states and Union Territories. They include Goa, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, J&K, Ladakh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. Out of the day's fatality of 89, Maharashtra accounted for 42 deaths, Kerala 15 and Punjab 12. Besides these three states, Chhattisgarh (4), Karnataka (3) and Delhi (3) accounted for 89% new deaths in the six states.
