Vinothen John appointed tour manager for women's team

DUBAI, Jan 08: Former Sri Lankan fast bowler Vinothen John has been appointed as a tour manager for the women's team, it is learnt here.

According to the well-placed sources in Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), the 61-year-old ex-right arm fast bowler Vinothen John will manage the National women's team tour of Malaysia for the upcoming ICC Commonwealth Games Qualifier.

Incidentally, John, who in the past has acted as a selector for the men's and women's teams, manager for "A" team and LPL team, also an observer and match-referee, is believed to have sent his resume for the manager's post in response to the SLC's advertisement.

The SLC has also appointed Mrs. Indrani Ariyaratne as Chaperone on this tour. She will be a coordinator for the players and one point logistics officer.

The women's team is scheduled to return on January 26.

The Malaysian Cricket Board and the ICC have appointed doctors for doing PCR tests for all participating team players and support staff.
