FCC Akhnoor enters semis of Pawan T20

JAMMU, July 3: Friends Cricket Club (FCC) Akhnoor today qualified for the semifinals of the 4th Pawan Memorial Twenty20 Cricket Tournament underway at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Akhnoor.
In today’s first quarterfinal of the tournament, FCC trounced Shashi Pal Cricket Club Jammu by a big margin of 45 runs.
Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, FCC set a target of 151 runs for the loss of nine wickets, which, in reply, Shashi Club could not attain. Shashi Club lost all their wickets for 105 runs in 17.2 overs.
Rohit Sharma remained top scorer with 69 runs while Vipin and Sunil Sharma contributed 15 and 13 runs respectively. From Shashi Pal Club, Sumesh, Gosha and Baba took two wickets each while Ricky and Bunty shared apiece each.
Later, chasing a target of over seven runs per over, Shashi Club bowled out for 105 runs in 17.2 overs. Except for Vishu (31) and Asroor (33), no other batsman could face FCC bowlers and lost their wickets cheaply. Arun Dev Singh was most successful bowler from FCC with four for 17 in four overs. Balbir Singh also bowled well taking away three wickets while Amit Singh bagged two.
For his match winning spell of four wickets, Arun Dev was adjudged man of the match. Today’s quarterfinal was officiated by Vikas Bali and Sunny Kumar as umpires while Akshay Kumar was scorer.
NEXT MATCH: Singh Club Akhnoor shall take on Adarsh Cricket Club Akhnoor in quarterfinals on July five at 8.30 am.
