Mir flags off sarpanchs, panchs on NI tour

PATTAN, July 3: Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hassan Mir this morning flagged off 26 Sarpanches and Panches of Tehsil-Pattan for National Integration Tour-2012 to Hamachal Pradesh.
These elders from Pattan Kashmir will visit Dharmshala, Kulu and Manali of H.P state and has been organized by 29 Rashtriya rifles on a theme “Mascot of Peace”.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister appreciated the efforts of Army for organizing such tours for elders; youths and students which would help in bridging gaps between the people of J&K and other parts of our country. He said it is an opportunity for the visiting ambassadors to Know about the functioning of basic democratic institutions of the area and the achievement registered by them by way of adopting modern Horti- techniques during two decades.
The Minister said that the tour will be successful only when the visiting Sarpanches and Panches would do in depth study of various activities useful in our state during the tour. He said that Himachal Pradesh is marching very fast in adopting new horticulture techniques for increasing its quality production and asked the visiting delegates to get acquaint themselves with these procedures as it is very much needed in the valley particularly in fruit belt area of Pattan.
Mir said that Himachal Pardesh remain peaceful state of the country, which has provided rich dividends in terms progress, development in all sectors to the people of the state adding that our ambassadors would bring massage of peace for the people of the valley. He hoped that the army would organize such tour programmes in future also.
Brigadier A.K Tyagi of 10th brigade of RR highlighted the objectives of tour to aware the people of country that people of valley wants peace and progress as the people of other parts of the country.
Principal Government Degree Collage Patten, Prof. Shaheena also spoke on the occasion.
Earlier the students of their area present colourful cultural programme.
Later, the Minister distributes the awards among the students who participated in cultural programme.
