Motorcyclist’s death in accident
Kin ransack GMC ward, stage protest

JAMMU, July 3: Agitated over the death of motorcyclist due to alleged negligence of doctor and failure of police to arrest the trucker involved in mishap, kin of the deceased today ransacked the Emergency Ward of Government Medical College (GMC) hospital and staged noisy protest.
A motorcyclist Rajinder Kumar, 22, son of Parveen Kumar resident of Bagh-e-Bahu died in road mishap today. He was hit by a rashly driven truck at Bari Brahamana, this evening. Injured seriously, the trucker lifted him and shifted him to District Hospital (DH) Gandhi Nagar. Keeping in view his critical condition, he was referred to Government Medical College hospital.
However, the doctors at GMC hospital pronounced him as brought dead.
Kin of the victim alleged that was still breathing when reached at GMC hospital but the doctors didn’t provide him necessary medicare resulting in his death. Irked over the death of youth due to alleged negligence of doctors, his relatives and family members went berserk. One of the protesters smashed the window panes of Emergency Ward and others later sat on dharna in front of Emergency Ward. They staged noisy protest against GMC authorities.
Station House Officer (SHO) Police Station Bakshi Nagar Inspector Sameer Geelani rushed to the spot and he tried to pacify the protestors who further demanded arrest of the truck driver. They raised fingers on police blaming the cops of escape of trucker who shifted the victim to Gandhi Nagar and the to GMC hospital. They said that some passersby have noted half registration number 2338 of said truck but police failed to trace the vehicle and arrest the driver so far.
SDPO Bari Brahamana reached the spot and he assured the protestor of early arrest of driver after which the protestors lifted dharna.
The body was shifted to GMC hospital for postmortem.
