| | Course work on 'semiconductors....' at JU | | | JAMMU, Jan 30: The Department of Physics, University of Jammu in collaboration with the Society for Semiconductor Devices (SSD) New Delhi organised a one day course work on Semiconductors: Materials, Characterization and Applications here today. Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, Prof. Mohan Paul Singh Ishar inaugurated the tutorial. Prof Ishar congratulated the Department for taking an initiative where participants especially research students will be taught about the characterization of the semiconductor materials. He further said that it is an opportunity for young minds to clear their doubts about the semi conductor materials. While appreciating the Departments' initiatives, the Vice Chancellor said that the Department of Physics is the leading Department of the University in the field of research projects, presenting papers. He wished success to the seminar and thanked the mentors. Speaking on the occasion Prof Naresh Padha , Registrar and Convenor of the Course Work said that the one day Course work is yet another initiative on the part of the Department for need to train manpower in far greater number in techniques related to semiconductor devices. Earlier Prof. Anju Bhasin, Head of the Department, Department of Physics and Electronics in her welcome address said that the Department of Physics and Electronics provide cutting edge education and research at Master and Ph.D levels. She said that the goal of the Department is to provide innovative, high quality teaching, to conduct research of international importance, collaborate with industry and to communicate enthusiasm for the subject. Prof. B. M.Arora, Emiritus Prof IIT Bombay, Keynote Speaker dwelt in detail the technical aspects of the Course.Prof. Khosa, Dean Faculty of Science also spoke on the occasion. Prof Versha Mehta, Director,TBS,Jaikumar Sharma, Special Secretary to VC, Anik Gupta, Faculty members, Scholars and Students were also present on the occasion. |
