Sham takes stock of med services in Chandanwari

PAHALGAM, July 3: Minister for Health, Horticulture & Floriculture Sham Lal Sharma has said that health department will institute special awards for the best performing doctors and para-medics deployed on duty during Shri Amarnathji yatra on both the tracks. He said the doctors and para-medics are working round the clock to provide health cover to the pilgrims on these difficult tracks leading to cave shrine and government gives due cognizance to their services and from this year the best performing doctors and para-medics will be honored with suitable awards.
This was stated by the Minister during his 2-day visit to Pahalgam-Chandanwari in connection with supervision of medical facilities in various medical camps established by the health department today.
While chairing a meeting of officers of civil administration and para-military forces and doctors at Chandanwari yatra base camp, the Minister stressed the need for maintaining close coordination between various agencies to make the yatra hustle free. He issued instructions to the doctors and para-medical staff to provide best services to the pilgrims and treat them politely. He also issued appeal to the pilgrims to follow the advisory issued by Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) and Government while undertaking the yatra to avoid inconvenience. He also interacted with the doctors, para-medics, langerwalas and other service providers and had the detailed feed back about the facilities. Most of the pilgrims and service providers in the camp appreciated the efforts of the health department for providing satisfactory health services.
He also inspected the stock of medicines, oxygen cylinders and other life saving gadgets arranged by the health department at Nunwan base camp and Chandanwari. He directed the Chief Medical Officer, Anantnag to monitor the supply position on day to day basis and ensure that all essential medicines are made available in all the camps along the track. He also directed the officials of Food Safety to conduct a regular inspection of food articles in the langers and ensure that quality of food is strictly maintained.
The Minister also visited emergency hospital Pahalgam and took stock of the facilities available there. He directed the BMO concerned to monitor the activities personally and keep ready the entire necessary infrastructure to meet the emergencies.
Sham also inspected the Poshwan floriculture park at Pahalgam and Akar Park at Achhabal. He directed the Director Floriculture to affect necessary channel fencing of these parks. He also directed for formulating comprehensive proposals for both these parks for their further upgradation and beautification in view of their importance on tourist point of view.
