PK reacts sharply to Geelani’s statement
Settlement of KPs
KT NEWS SERVICE
JAMMU, Jul 3: Panun Kashmir (PK) expressed its resentment and anguish over the statement of the separatist leader Ali Shah Geelani against the settlement of Kashmiri Pandits in Kashmir and said it was aimed at vitiating the atmosphere.
Panun Kashmir (PK) questioned the rationale of the statement given by Geelani in which he said the settlement of Kashmiri Pandits in Kashmir would change the demography of Kashmir. Questioning the locus standi of Geelani, PK general secretary Kuldeep Raina said, “Syed Ali Shah Geelani, who is responsible for decimating more than 5000 year old social structure and civilisational ethos of the civilization in Kashmir, has no right to issue diktats to the aborigines and the original inhabitants of Kashmir as he was an outsider and not native of the land of Kashmir as his ancestors belonged to Geelan. By clearly opposing the settlement of the Kashmiri Pandits in any part of the Kashmir valley he revealed the real face of Islamic jihad that is responsible for the religious cleansing of the Kashmiri Pandits in 1989-1990.”
Raina said that by opposing the resettlement of Kashmiri Pandits in Kashmir he (Geelani) in fact “acknowledged that the genocide of this community in Kashmir.”
He asked the international community and the Indian government to take into account, what he chose to describe as, “the fascist declaration of Syed Ali Shah Geelani” and try him for “intimidating the minority community of the Kashmiri Pandits even when they have been completely ethnically cleansed from their ancestral Homeland –Kashmir.”
Commenting on the situation prevalent in Kashmir, he said,” It becomes clear from the fascist declaration of Ali Shah Geelani that the atmosphere of intimidation and despondency which was unleashed 23 years by him and other persons of his ilk has not improved, rather the society has become talibanised and a fear psychosis is being unleashed to intimidate and annihilate the Kashmiri Pandits. His statement is a grave threat to the security and safety of the left over KPs and the community youth who are working in the valley under the employment package under the restrictions of SRO 412.”
Raina said, “Panun Kashmir took a historic stand in 1991 to strive for the creation of the Homeland for the Kashmiri Pandits in Kashmir on the banks of the river Vitasta as envisaged in the Margdarshan resolution passed unanimously by the entire KP community. The communal statement of Geelani against the resettlement of Kashmiri Pandits vindicates the Homeland demand of the Kashmiri Pandits with the Union territory status in Kashmir.”
Panun Kashmir also appealed to the state and central governments to provide fool proof security to the members of community in the Kashmir valley.
