Hurriyat (G) issues protest, strike calendar

SRINAGAR, Feb 18: Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani, who has been put under house arrest in his Delhi house on Monday, issued fresh protest and strike calendar against the execution of Mohammad Afzal Guru, the parliament attack convict.

Geelani has called for complete shutdown on February 20 and 21, the shutdown will follow by protests after Jummah prayers after 12.00 Noon, on Friday, February 22.

In a statement issued by his amalgam here, Geelani said civil curfew would be observed on Wednesday and Thursday. A shutdown would be observed after Friday prayers which would be followed by peaceful protests across the Valley, he said.

“Torch bearing processions to be carried out after Maghrib Prayers on Wednesday and Thursday,” Geelani appealed. The future of action will be taken on Friday afternoon. The statement said.

The future course of action would be announced on Friday the February 22, Geelani said. Moderate Hurriyat Conference, headed by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and JKLF had also given a call for a shutdown on Friday.
