| | Governor stresses high importance of encouraging meritorious students | | | JAMMU, Mar 11: Governor NN Vohra today emphasized the high importance of meritorious students being suitably encouraged and rewarded so that other boys and girls are inspired to put in their best efforts to achieve excellence in their chosen fields of learning. The Governor was interacting with Mimansha Choudhary, presently a 1st year student of BA History (Hons) at the Lady Shri Ram College for Women, New Delhi, after he and Usha Vohra, First Lady, felicitated her by presenting to her a Laptop at Raj Bhavan here today. Choudhary was accompanied by her grandparents when she was invited to the Raj Bhavan to be presented a Laptop as a token of encouragement and recognition of her outstanding academic achievement. She had scored 97.4% marks in the XII class in 2012 in the humanities stream and was the topper in the Jammu Division. She was a student of the Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Mubarak Mandi, Jammu. Choudhary had her schooling in Jammu and was putting up with her maternal grandfather who, before his retirement, had worked in the office of CDA in Jammu. Mimansha was invited to the Raj Bhavan after she wrote to the Governor that she had stood first in the XII class examination last year and complained that no incentives are provided even to the toppers in J&K, unlike as in other States. |
