CM’s gold medal for 5 officers
SRINAGAR Aug 14: The state government has accorded sanction to the grant of Chief Minister’s Gold Medal for honesty, integrity and meritorious public service for the year-2012 in favour of five officers of state government.

These officers will receive a cash prize of Rs one lakh each, a citation and a certificate on the eve of Independence Day, an official spokesman said.

The officers are Chief Electoral Officer Umang Narula, Commissioner- Secretary, Rural Development Department, Farooq Ahmad Peer, Vice-Chairman, LAWDA Irfan Yaseen, Director, Resources and Institutional Finance, Rashmi Kashyap and Chief Engineer, R&B, Kashmir Mushtaq Ahmad Lone.

Militant hideout busted
JAMMU, Aug 14: A day ahead of Independence Day, security forces on Tuesday unearthed a militant hideout in Rajouri district and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunitions.
