JSM celebrates Baisakhi
JAMMU, Apr 13: on the auspicious eve of Baisakhi, the Jammu Samajik Manch organized 11th function here at S. D. Higher Secondary Kanya Vidyalya at Julaka Mohalla here today.

Chairman, Legislative Council, Amrit Malhotra was the Chief Guest and Ashok Khajuria, MLA, presided over the function.

Speaking on the occasion, Malhotra while extending warm greetings to the people of the State especially Sikh Community, has wished that Baisakhi will be a harbinger of peace, progress and prosperity for the State and its people.

Highlighting the rich traditions of amity and brotherhood in all the State, the Chairman said that co-existence of different faiths and cultures, symbolizes the high values of humanism. He stressed for upholding the values of communal harmony and striving to conserve the rich cultural heritage at all circumstances.

The students of the institution presented variety of cultural programmes on the occasion.

Renowned singers of Jammu, Uttam Singh, in his comedian style and Mrs. Purnima Sharma with her melodious vice mesmerized the audience and get applause. A skit was also presented by the local artists. The President JSM, Saroop Singh Jamwal through a power point presentation highlighted the activities being carried out by the Munch since last two decades. MLA, Ashok Khajuria also addressed the gathering.

Later, the Chairman distributed cheques of financial assistance and blankets among the poor, destitute and widows as a goodwill gesture.

Besides, the civil society members, senior citizens, students and a large number of people attended the function.
