SRINAGAR, Apr 13: Four members of National Investigation Agency (NIA) team today visited Daradpora in Kupwara interacted with locals and the family members of the Liaqat Shah who is presently lodged in Tihar Jail.

The NIA team, which arrived in Kashmir yesterday, had a detailed discussion with Liaqat’s family in Srinagar. The team members today rushed to the native village of Liaqat.

Senior superintendent of police Kupwara, Mohammad Irshad, accompanied the team. The team had a detailed interaction with Liyaqat’s family. The members also interacted with locals especially with the neighbours of Liaqat.

NIA members refused to comment on the issue. However, the brother of Liaqat, Inayat Shah told CNS that NIA team assured the family that Liaqat will get justice. “The team members were convinced that Liaqat had arrived here under Rehabilitation Policy and he had no intention of joining the ranks of militants,” Inayat said.

He said locals categorically told NIA team that false and baseless charges have been leveled against Liaqat while the fact is that he is innocent. “Liaqat would have not come along with his family if he had nefarious designs,” locals told the team members.
