PCC hits hard at Kamal
‘NC in power, Omar CM, Farooq union minister with Cong support’
KT NEWS SERVICE
SRINAGAR, July 9: Strongly reacting to anti-Congress utterances of National Conference (NC) additional general secretary, Dr Mustafa Kamal, PCC today reminded him that his party is in power, Omar Abdullah chief minister, and Dr Farooq Abdullah a union minister because of Congress.
In a hard hitting statement, PCC has asked its coalition partner NC to stop forthwith Kamal from making such statements as it can lead to disturbing the smooth functioning of the coalition.
“The repeated statements of NC’s additional general secretary Dr. Kamal against the Congress party and its leaders are highly objectionable, mischievous and distortion of historical facts. These remarks are intolerable for Congress cadres. Dr. Kamal should know that it is due to the support of Congress party that National Conference is in power and leading the coalition with Omar Abdullah as chief minister and his elder brother Dr. Farooq Abdullah is enjoying ministerial berth in union government,” said PCC general secretary and official spokesperson, Ravinder Sharma, in the statement
He alleged that NC leadership has not only rewarded Dr. Kamal by appointing him as additional general secretary but has assigned him to continue issuing false and baseless statements against Congress party and its leaders. This is being done to keep up the sagging morale of National Conference cadres. “The Congress cadres would no longer tolerate these false, baseless, malicious, mischievous statements of the additional general of National Conference. We would be forced to take up the issue with Congress high command,” said Sharma.
Dr Kamal had recently stated that New Delhi did not implement the terms of 1975 Indira-Abdullah accord. He had also blamed Congress for being mischievous “in its "Kashmir dealings".
"The attitudes of the Congress and their dealings with the state right from 1953 have been mischievous. The action of dismissing a popular Prime Minister in 1953 was the first blow to the NC. From that day, four times governor's rule has been invoked in the state without any justification,” Dr Kamal had stated.
He had alleged," They Congress) stabbed Sher-e-Kashmir (Kamal's father) in the back not only in 1953 but in 1977 also. If the accord of 1975 had been agreed to by Sheikh Sahib why did they bury it by removing him within 11 months of signing of the so-called agreement? ..And then Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was made leader of the house. It was the constitution of the state that prevented that to happen because (then governor) L.K. Jha, despite pressure from New Delhi did not succumb. Jha said that he had to defend the constitution of the state under which he had taken oath," the NC leader had pointed out.
Dr Kamal had termed the NC's present alliance with the Congress as "unfortunate, unholy and an alliance of compulsion.”
It may be recalled here that last year Dr Kamal was unceremoniously deprived of the posts of additional general secretary and chief spokesman when he continued attacks against Congress besides AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi. However, after some months the post of additional general secretary was returned to him.
