Kadalabal remains shut for third day
Security forces intensify operations in south Kashmir

SRINAGAR, July 9 : Following recent militant attacks in south Kashmir, the security forces have been put on extra high alert and their operations intensified in some “sensitive areas” there.
For the third consecutive day today the shops and other business establishments at Kadalbal-Pampore remained closed. The local people alleged that the security personnel are not allowing them to open shops after recent attack in which a soldier was killed and another injured.
Police and security personnel have set up six check points from Pampore to Khanabal (Anantnag) on Srinagar- Jammu road, where the vehicles are stopped and passengers frisked.
At Kadalabal, the local people alleged that the residents are being thrashed whenever spotted on Srinagar-Jammu road.” This situation has led to closure of shops and other business establishments,” said a local. The shopkeepers were summoned to neighbouring security camp and police station for questioning.
Security forces and SOG conducted search operations at Kadlabal and Samboora last evening and it continued till late night. However, no arrest was made.
Reports from sensitive areas of Anantnag, Pulwama, Shopian and Kulgam said securtity forces have intensified their operations.
Meanwhile, Pulwama police has arrested two persons in connection with the
killing of a police man by the unidentified gunmen on Wednesday.
The gunmen had y fired upon a police man Dalbir Singh while he was on duty in Rajpora chowk, Pulwama
. “Two persons were rounded and both of them are being questioned,” said ources.
SSP Pulwama, Nitish Kumar, confirmed that the three persons have been
picked up during last two days and they are being interrogated,
however he was quick to add that they are very much close to crack the
case.
“We are very close to crack the case,” the police officer said.
