| | Are tuitions necessary? | | | Dear Editor, The recent decade has been a decade of unbelievable strides in the education sector. The State has moved forward as far as clinching those untouched heights in the merit list is concerned. Our youth has been able to garner some of the top positions in various exams held on national level, beating hopefuls from other States. Yet another perspective of the same has emerged through these years similar to other parts of the country. The trend of studying through tutors charging hefty amounts as fee is already in place. The State was known for quality education sans commercialization till yesterday, but now that distinction seems to have been lost. The only silver lining in this matter is the self-study and the painstaking efforts on the part of the students themselves, which have seen them coming up with flying colors in various challenging all-India level examinations. —Geetika Malhotra, via email. |
