| | Unlimited choice in T.V. programs | | | Dear Editor, Though the innumerable numbers of programs do offer the viewer an array of choices, it is the classic case of too much cooking spoiling the broth. Most of the times, the viewers are flabbergasted on what to choose from this mind boggling variety. Plus, these days it is violence with all its attendant problems calling the shots on the small screen. The visual media, barring channels like Discovery and National Geographic besides some Travel channels, is replete with dance shows with much ado about nothing. Even young saplings are forced to participate in the latter. Everything is done in a rather distasteful manner with the desire to be a part of short-lived fame and glory on the part of their parents. Also, the money factor is a driving force behind these ventures with everyone wishing to share the pie. Atleast the kids should be spared the glamour and a make- believe world of the visual media. —Siddharth Gautam, via email.
