| | Power shut down | | | JAMMU, July 17: To carry out the work of laying of 11 KV XLPE Cable from Dental College 33/11 KV R/Stn, Janipur for the work taken up under ERA, the power supply to Prem Nagar, Jawahar Nagar, Pacca Talab and New Plot fed from 11 KV J-1 Feeder emanating from 33/11 KV Receiving Station Janipur shall remain affected on July 18 from 6 a.m to 11 a.m. Meanwhile to carry out the urgent work of stringing of 400 KV in the span 28/0-29/0 near village Chringal of 400 KV D/C Kishenpur-New Wanpoh transmission line by the Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd, the power supply to Jindrah, Dansal, Surinsar and Railway Crossing in these areas fed from 11 KV Jindrah feeder, 11 KV Surinsar feeder, 11 KV Dansal feeder and 11 KV Railway feeder shall remain affected on July 18, 2012, from 10 a m to 4 p m. According to Superintending Engineer Electric Maintenance & R.E. Circle-I Jammu, the shutdown is subject to fair weather conditions. According to Executive Engineer, Electric Maintenance and RE (EM&RE) Division Udhampur, the power supply would be remained suspended due to shutdown of 11 KV Mansar feeder from 07 a.m. to 03.00 p.m. on July18 and 19, 2012 for facilitating the stringing work of400KV Kishenpur Wanpoh New Transmission line near village Gandalla in district Udhampur. The power supply to all the villages including Lanshi, Belly, Babreh, Mansar, Heimbrah, Sui, Chalcher, Gandala, Tirshi, Jasherkote, Mall, Pangere, and Krimchi shall remain off during specified shutdown period. The shutdown shall however be subjected to fair weather conditions. |

| ‘Militant’ killed in Handwara encounter | | SRINAGAR, Jul 17: An unidentified ‘militant’ was killed in the wee hours today in an encounter with police and army at Batsunjhi in Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, police said.
The militant, according to the police, was hiding in the forest near Jaba in the village. On a tip off, the police and army started a search operation overnight, resulting in a gunfight that ended at 9 AM with death of the ‘militant’.
