| | Hakeem Yasin for friendly relations between India, Pak | | | BUDGAM, July 17: Saying that education is key to success and bright future the Member Legislative Assembly Khanshaib and Former Cabinet Minister Hakeem Mohammad Yasin today urged for imparting modern as well as moral education to youth which he said was imperative for building a sound evil free society. Speaking to a gathering at Kesh-Razgeer village in Khanshaib Budgam today, after inaugurating recently upgraded Government Middle School, Razgeer to High School, Hakeem Yasin enjoined upon the teaching fraternity to work with social obligation to educate and teach the students adding the teacher is the driving force to mould the all-round personality of a student. He said teaching is a noble profession and the teachers should strive to uphold its glory. Hakeem Yasin asked the people to maintain peace and amity as it was imperative for the speedy development of the state. He hoped that the ongoing talks between India and Pakistan would bear fruits adding that J&K state is the biggest beneficiary of peace and friendly relations between the two neighboring countries. He appealed the leadership of both the countries to bring bit flexibility in their stand so that an amicable solution is hammered out to solve all the outstanding issues amicably. Hakim Yasin pitched for addressing both the internal and external dimensions of the Kashmir imbrilog adding that development of J&K should be given further impetus till consensus on the political solution of the Kashmir problem is reached out amicably between India and Pakistan. Hakim Yasin said that the present government has accorded focused attention towards upgradation of road connectivity network, better health care and educational facilities especially in for-flung and hitherto neglected areas adding that the Khanshaib constituency will be made a model constituency. He said tourism potential in the area is being explored a large scale to give boost to the economic activities in the area. In this connection, he referred to development of Doodpathri and Tossamidan and said a separate development Authority has been created to create tourism infrastructure in the area. |

| ‘Militant’ killed in Handwara encounter | | SRINAGAR, Jul 17: An unidentified ‘militant’ was killed in the wee hours today in an encounter with police and army at Batsunjhi in Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, police said.
The militant, according to the police, was hiding in the forest near Jaba in the village. On a tip off, the police and army started a search operation overnight, resulting in a gunfight that ended at 9 AM with death of the ‘militant’.
