| | Youth, students are future of a nation: SP MP | | | POONCH, Jul 17: The youths and students are the future of a nation and if they really want to see their nation on top of the progressive world then they have to vanquish the field of education because without education no nation excels. This was stated by the Member Parliament, Samajwadi Party from UP, Ch. Munawwar Saleem during his day long visit to district Poonch along with the VC of Sainath University, here today. While speaking to a mammoth gathering at Mendhar, he said that during his 35 years long political career he has not seen such a mega event of reception any where in the country. Referring to the warmth welcome at Sunder Bani to honor son of the soil, Dr. Shahzad Malik, he said that he was moved with the gesture shown by the public. He said that he is deeply touched with the real characteristics of unity in diversity of J&K people and he will let it know to rest of the country that if they really want to see the essence of unity they should visit to Poonch & Rajouri districts once in a life time. He also thanked the public for the love, honor and hospitality shown towards them and prayed to almighty for the complete peace in the state in future. |

| ‘Militant’ killed in Handwara encounter | | SRINAGAR, Jul 17: An unidentified ‘militant’ was killed in the wee hours today in an encounter with police and army at Batsunjhi in Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, police said.
The militant, according to the police, was hiding in the forest near Jaba in the village. On a tip off, the police and army started a search operation overnight, resulting in a gunfight that ended at 9 AM with death of the ‘militant’.
