NC leader appeals govt to conduct fresh BPL survey

JAMMU, Oct 29: Provincial President Women’s wing J&K National Conference Jammu province Vijay Laxmi Dutta today appealed the government to conduct a fresh survey to identify BPL people in the farflung areas in the state.
She visited various remote area villages of Palanwala and Akhnoor. Dutta gave a patient hearing to all the village women folk regarding the demand about the BPL survey in certain places to be redone once again. Besides, the demand to repair the collapsed mud houses was once again asked to be reconsidered for the funding, as most of them had been damaged during the rainy reason. They also made demands about the ration cards, besides setting up of the tailoring centres. The women at Malpur near Akhnoor demanded the setting up of the State Women Commission office at lower level in Malpur as well.
Dutta promised to take up the said problems with the administration. She appealed the Govt to conduct a fresh survey to identify BPL people in the farflung areas as most deserving cases had not been given the place in the BPL lists, therefore, a fresh survey was required. She assured the workers that she will take up their genuine issues with the party High Cmmand and the Govt for their immediate redressal.
She also assured the workers that the National Conference leadership was determined to fulfill the promises made with the people during the elections. National Conference, according to her, didn’t believe in hollow slogans, but was committed for the upliftment of downtrodden and poor sections of the society. She said challenges ahead were serious but, the present coalition government under the leadership of dynamic young Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was committed to give justice to the people of the State and ensure equitable development of all the three regions.
Meanwhile, District President Kuldeep Kour handed over the some problems of ward no 12 Bazighar Mohalla. She demanded one Tailoring Center, widow pension and few handicap bicycles for the disabled persons. Among others who were present in the meeting included Mohd Reyaz, Raju Khan, Darshna, Dilber Jan and others.
