| | MLAs cry foul | `Development restricted to ministers’ constituencies’ | | | JAMMU, Jul 22: The burning issues of “Bijli, Paani, Sadak” dominated the proceedings of Jammu District Development Board (DDB) meeting chaired by the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah here today as the MLAs resented that all the development was restricted to the ministers’ constituencies. MLAs (other than ministers) pointed out that not even a single case of widow pension was cleared in their constituencies in the past three to four years despite repeated pleas to the government in every DDB meeting. Jammu West MLA Prof Chaman Lal Gupta rued that every year same issue was raised yet the government did nothing besidesxmaking hollow promises. “The government formed a committee headed by the Chief Secretary to look into all these issues which were raised in the DDB meetings repeatedly and clear the backlog of decisions taken in these meetings. Now we want to know as what has happened to that committee, what are its findings? What it did? We posed same queries to the Chief Minister but he preferred to be evasive saying, “Baad Mein Batayunga.” But he did not,” Chaman told KTNS. Referring to widow pension cases, he said that in his constituency Jammu West only, there were 15,000 widow pension forms were filled up. “But not even a single case could get sanction so far. They are talking about construction of fly over besides other development projects in Bikram Chowk area which is a part of minister’s constituency. While Janipur, Talab Tillo and B C Road areas in my constituency face the problem of traffic congestion in its worst form but there they’re coming out with B C Road 8-laning project, which is simply impossible in the wake of presence of religious places on that stretch. These announcements are nothing but dilly-dallying practices. Na Nau Man Tel Hoga Na Radha Nachegi,” Chaman said. |
