JAMMU, July 26: Bhartiya Janta Party has accused Minister of State, Shabir Ahmed Khan for adopting silence over the regular scams in various departments in Rajouri and has demanded immediate enquiry into the bungling of government money in the Department of Social Welfare, Thanamandi.

Addressing workers meeting organized to gear up the membership drive

in Thanamandi, state secretary of BJP, Advocate Vibodh Gupta said that scandal after scandal is being unearthed in Rajouri but there is no word from local MLA and MoS, Shabir Ahmed Khan which creates doubt that there is some fishy in the matter and Khan may have some role in these bunglings. Gupta said that there was scam of Rs 50 Lakhs in Pahari hotel Rajouri after which 13 crore scam was unearthed in the Department of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution which is being headed by Shabir Ahmed Khan. He added that after these scams, a Social Welfare scam in Thanamandi area was unearthed in the form of bogus pensions. He said that atleast 700 bogus cases are found in Thanamandi and the scam is big and is being shielded by some influential politicians. He added that the scam in social welfare is of serious nature as those who have died 2

years back are still getting pension and even students are getting old

age pension in the area.

BJP leader added that no action has been initiated in any of the three scams. He

said that all the mis-appropriation needs a through probe but there is

no word from MoS regarding the same. In the meeting district president, Yogesh Sharma targeted the Congress-NC government terming it as anti-people. He said that government has become non existent as there is no work on ground which can be dubbed as achievement of government.

Mandal president, Zahid Qureshi and senior BJP leader Nayeem Ganie also criticized the government for its anti-people policies. They said that corruption has crossed the danger level and there are sky rocketing prices which could have been controlled by the Omar

Abdullah led government by curtailing VAT but nothing has been done in this regard. The leaders alleged that there is open loot in the government offices as these offices have got direct approval of corruption from government.
