JAMMU, Jan 12: The people of Thana Mandi today expressed their resentment over the alleged delay in issuing Permanent Resident Certificates (PRCs) in their favour owing to delaying in the restoration of powers to the revenue officers for issuing the certificates. They maintained that the PRCs have been put on hold since the last more than two months after the transfer of Assistant Commissioner (Defence) Shehbaz Mirza.
J&K Confederation for Civil Liberties (JKCCL) Convener Dr. Mohammad Sadiq Shad disclosed this while addressing a meeting. While speaking on the occasion, Shad said, “Hundreds of Permanent Resident Certificate files are lying with the office of Tehsildar Thana Mandi and in the office of Deputy Commissioner Rajouri but are still pending due to negligence of concerned officers there. He said that most of the aspiring candidates who have to apply for the recruitment of various posts to the Subordinate Services Selection recruitment Board are unable to do so in absence of their PRCs.
Dr. Shad further appealed to the government and the concerned authorities to restore the powers to any existing revenue officer of the district Rajouri to issue the PRCs in favour of the applicants of Tehsil Thana Mandi to enable them to take benefit of it, failing which “the public would be compelled to come on the roads to seek justice for which the government will be responsible itself”.
Those who were present on the occasion included Haji Abdul Rashid Shawl, Ghulam Nabi Khan, Maqsood Ahmed Khan, Sadeeq Ganai and others.
