Hut allocation scam in Dachnipora: High level probe ordered, inquiry team seizes records

SRINAGAR, Jan 17 : The authorities have initiated high level inquiry into the Indra Awaz
Yojna (IAY) hut allocation scam in Dachnipora.
The scam allegedly involving many top officials and political activists was exposed by
Kashmir Times in a series of stories in last couple of weeks.
Sources said that after the indictment of a former BDO during the preliminary inquiry, director rural development constituted a high level inquiry team headed by assistant commissioner development (ACD) Pulwama, to probe the scam.
The inquiry team, sources said, visited the BDOs office and took along the records of the huts allocated since 2010. "Besides taking along some records related to the fraudulent allocation of huts the inquiry team sought all the details related to the period of posting of the BDOs, VLWs and other officials in the block," they said. They said the inquiry team during last one week summoned many officials to the directorate office for questioning. "Many officials have been questioned so far and many others are being summoned," sources said.
A top official wishing anonymity said that during the inquiry many heads including few BDOs are likely to roll. When contacted director, RDD, Mir Altaf Ahmad, said the high level inquiry has been ordered to unearth the whole scam. "So far one BDO has been found involved in the fraud and the further inquiry is on. Whosoever is found involved will be exposed and punished as per the law," he said, adding that the inquiry team has been asked to inquire the allocation of huts since 2010 as there are reports of fraud into the allocation of huts since then.
