Srinagar Gymkhana wins by 35 runs

JAMMU, Aug 3: Superb innings played by the trio of Irfan Ashraf, Qayoom and Imtiaz today guided Srinagar Gymkhana to a 35 runs win over Kashmir University in the ongoing Parvez Qureshi Memorial Cricket Tournament, organised by Kashmir wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) at Kashmir University ground, here.
Earlier, after winning the toss and decided to bat first, Srinagar Gymkhana set a target of 233 runs for the loss of four wickets in allotted 40 overs. In reply, Kashmir University bowled out for 197 runs in 38 overs to lose the tie by 35 runs.
Irfan Ashraf and Qayoom played fine innings of 74 and 61 runs respectively to guide their side to a competitive total. From KU, Waseem took two wickets.
Batting second, KU could not attain the goal despite brilliant knock of 77 from Azmat and the whole side bowled out for 197 runs in 38 overs. Tahir also batted well adding second highest 35 runs. From Srinagar Gymkhana, Imtiaz caused maximum damage to KU batting line up taking away four wickets. Azhar claimed two wickets.
In today’s match, Owaid and Sameer were umpires while Javed Ahmed maintained the scorebook.
