Chib reviews functioning of associated hospitals in Srinagar

SRINAGAR Aug 3: Minister for Medical Education R. S. Chib took review of functioning of associated hospitals of Government Medical College Srinagar at a joint high-level meeting of Medical Superintendents, Engineers and senior officers of Medical Education Department, here today.
The meeting discussed, various issues related to the functioning of these hospitals including maintenance of infrastructure, new constructions, patient care facilities, functioning of medical shops in and around the hospitals, procedure for night duty of doctors and para-medics and providing of diet to the patients, security and sanitation and other allied issues.
The Minister exhorted the authorities to keep close vigil on fair price medical shops being run within the premises of hospitals and ensure that a complete list of drugs being sold on these shops including the price list should be displayed prominently in the shops for the knowledge of patients.
The Minister directed the Drug Controller to keep a close vigil on the medical shops located outside the hospitals to ensure that no spurious drugs sold to the patients.
The Minister said that the lone testing laboratory of Drug Control Organization at Srinagar shall be equipped with latest technology and experienced staff enabling the department to get all samples tested here instead of sending them outside the state which is time consuming process. The Drug Controller was directed to submit a proposal for strengthening the laboratory on modern lines so that the funds are arranged accordingly.
It was also given out in the meeting that a special sanitation drive will be launched in and around the hospitals in collaboration with various NGOs and Srinagar Municipal Corporation.
The Minister took serious note of absence of Executive Engineers of PWD and PDD in the meeting and directed the concerned authorities to call an explanation from the concerned.
