| | West insinuates China teenager | | | Dear Editor, China has proved its mettle once again and this has been done by the new teenage prodigy, Ywen Shein, now two time champion in swimming competition at London Olympics. In the past as well, the western nations have looked with dismay at the superb performances by the athletes of oriental origins. This time however, it was Ywen’s turn. The teenager was asked to undergo doping tests, which smacked of racial arrogance. Jealousy and nothing else were the prime motives behind their move to involve the athlete. But Ywen faced it with a calm demeanor which is appreciable. There is no doubt about the perfection in the Chinese athletes which comes only with the years of hard work and toil they put in every sport, grooming their children on the right path. The west and other nations as well should learn a lesson here in how to progress instead of being insinuated by the teenagers’ performance. —Ragini Sharma, Top Sherkhanian, Jammu. |
