Sports Mela in Poonch next month

POONCH, Aug 6: To promote sports culture in border district of Poonch, 39 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), in collaboration with Shaheed DySP Manjeet Singh Club and Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), is organizing a Sports Mela at Government Degree College ground, here in the second week of September.
In this mela, young boys and girls will be involved in various disciplines of volleyball, kabaddi, tug of war, stone lifting, wrist holding, kho kho(girls) and cross country run for fun race.
“The mela is part of an exercise to motivate the youth towards sports culture in the district. So, we have included both Olympic discipline events and other traditional games,” disclosed organizing secretary of the mela, Mohd Tariq Khan
The organizing committee has extended an open invitation to both regular players and those non-students but sports lovers to submit their entries to the orgnisers before August 25. Participation can also be confirmed through Mobile Nos. 9419675061 and 8803753017.
