Geelani concerned over ‘Wakf land grab’ at Jammu
KT NEWS SERVICE
SRINAGAR, Aug 6: The Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, today said the encroachment by communal elements upon the Wakf property in Jammu is a matter of serious concern.
“It is a serious issue,” he said in a statement issued here.
Assuring “full support” to the Muslim community of Jammu, Geelani said it discriminated against since 1947.
“We will leave alone the Muslim of Jammu,” he asserted.
The veteran separatist said the development was part of the plan under which the communal elements were being encouraged in the Muslim majority areas.
“It is part of the long policy,” he said.
The issue, he said, would affect the peace and stability in the entire region.
“If the issue is not stopped forthwith, it will have serious consequences over the whole of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
