Civil Society delegation meets UN Military Observers in Srinagar
Express concern over massacre of Muslims in Burma

SRINAGAR Aug 6: A delegation of Civil Society comprising of various social activists today met UN Military Observers in Srinagar and apprised them of their concerns over killings and atrocities committed on Rohangiya Muslims in Burma.
The delegation also raised issues of alleged human rights violation in Kashmir and Palestine and handed over a memorandum to the UN observers addressed to UN Secretary General.
“The Democratic forum for social democracy and civil liberties strongly condemns the mass genocide of Muslims in Burma as an expression of sectarian violence and a gross human rights violation in an authoritarian Buddhist dominated state of Burma. We citizens of international borderless activists plead to restore the confidence building measures and create conducive atmosphere for the brotherhood and pluralism of all the sects and religions,” they said in a press handout here.
“At the same time we activists of civil society objectively criticize the Zionist repression of Israel state for the just cause of historical Palestinian struggle of the Arab settlement and restoration peace , development between two Semitic civilization , strongly emphases on the resolution of the Arab Israel conflict,” it adds.
Furthermore, all the members of civil society on behalf of the people of Kashmir showed their concern about the alleged human rights violations perpetuated by the security forces deployed in the valley as highly militarized zone with a legal immunity against civil liberties.
“We appeal Govt of India to repeal the draconian laws like AFSPA, PSA and DDA in order to create an atmosphere of peace and tranquility in the valley,” they said.
According to delegation the UN Military Observers gave a very passionate hearing to the delegation and assured them of forwarding the copy of memorandum to UN Secretary General
The delegation consisted of Peer Moin-u-Din, Bilal Sultan, Farooq Ahmad Kuthoo, Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat.
