CM leaves for Delhi

SRINAGAR, Aug 7 : Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today left for Delhi to meet the new union home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde.
Shinde is scheduled to visit the state on August 11. This will be the chief minister’s first meeting with Shinde after he assumed charge of home ministry.

NEW DELHI, Aug 7 (Agencies) : UPA candidate Hamid Ansari was on Wednesday re-elected as the Vice President, becoming the second person to get a second consecutive term as he defeated NDA nominee Jaswant Singh by a large margin of 252 votes. 75-year-old Ansari, a former IFS officer, got 490 votes against 238 bagged by Singh out of 736 votes polled earlier in the day.
