POK refugees demonstrate in front of Cong MPs houses
KT NEWS SERVICE
Jammu, Aug 9 Demanding a compensation package for their settlement in Jammu region, refugees from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) today demonstrated in front of the residences of two Congress MPs against their alleged failure to grant them a permanent rehabilitation package.
Led by POK Refugee Front general secretary Rachhpal Singh Chib, over 200 refugees including women demonstrated in front of MPs Lal Singh and M L Sharma's houses for their alleged failure to take up their cause with the central and state governments. The demonstrators also took out a protest rally in the city in support of their demand. "We demand a package for permanent rehabilitation of POK Refugee Front 1947, 1965 and 1971 in Jammu.
In this direction, we held protest demonstrations in front of houses of the MPS", Chib told reporters here. "The state government has already forward the package for us but the Centre has failed to approve it", he asserted. No comprehensive settlement package, including compensation for lost property, loss of life, economic and political rights has been provided to these families, Chib claimed.
