Jammu laments incompetent officers trying to hoodwink public
Dear Editor
This is regarding the inauguration of “Yasho Karan Singh Park” behind Ranbireshwarji temple by Dr. Karan Singh, Chairman Trustee J&K Dharmarth Trust in presence of Mrs. Sheila Dixit, Chief Minister Delhi on 24th of May 2012.
Despite the associated fanfare, the function was drab and surprisingly none of the local gentry, MLAs, MLCs, Ministers, senior government officials besides the political leaders attended the function. Even the Press did not highlight the function and it passed of as a routine event.
Who are the people behind this “faux pas”?
Did the Trustees and the Council members notice this lapse on the part of the people whom they have handed over the administration of the Trust? It is a known fact that two officials of the latter who were assigned the duty to complete the remaining 25% of work as a ‘bonanza’ availed the opportunity to fill up their coffers, which they did to their hearts’ content.
From the first day of May 2012, the day the park was inaugurated a sum of Rs. 40 lacs have been spent within twenty four days by the two officials who were assigned the task to complete the job by the Trustees.
Huge amount has been drawn surreptitiously via the computerized bills by a man who specializes in this nefarious art and is well known among the Trust employees for having joined hands with a J&K Government retired officer, also a Trust employee only to fleece the organization.
Most heart rending part of the story however, is that the park was enclosed with barbed wires, immediately after inauguration and not a single individual has had the privilege of visiting it so far.
Modus operandi planned by these two Trust officers was to ensure an exit of the Dharmarth staff who have rendered very long service and had already finished 75% of park work, but were unceremoniously thrown out in a meticulous manner, engaging the services of a person personally known to them alongwith his accomplices.
The country is in the throes of corruption and efforts are afoot to route it out, why not include various organisations as well as the Trusts to rid the country of the ongoing corruption menace.
“Are the Trustees and Council Members listening?”
