Tripura wins 58th Jr National School Games-2012 championship

SRINAGAR, Sep 7: Tripura U-17 Foot Ball team today won 58th Junior National School Games-2012 championship which was played at Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar. The winning team converted the penalty corners into goals and won the final of the championship defeating Chandigarh U-17 Foot Ball team.
Speaker, Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Mohammad Akbar Lone was the chief guest, while as Minister for Youth Services and Sports R S Chib was the guest of honour on the occasion.
The 5-day long event was organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports under the aegis of School Games Federation of India in which over 600 players and managers from 27 state across the country participated.
Speaking on the occasion, Lone said such national event strengthen the bond of friendship among players. “The players are the model of national integration, friendship and amity, he added”.
Chib said that the government under the leadership of Chief Minister is keen to develop sports infrastructure for improving sports talent among the youth of the State.
Later, the dignitaries gave away trophies to the winning and runner-up teams. They also distributed individual medals among the players who performed best during the tournament.
54 players selected from the participating teams which will represent the country at the international event in France.
Chairperson, the Innercall, Roma Wani also announced special prizes for the two players who scored highest number of goals during the event.
Among others, Director, Youth Services and Sports S. Jaipal Singh, Secretary, J&K State Sports Council Dalip Thussu, Joint Director, Youth Services and Sports Madan lal, Deputy Director and Vice- President School Games Federation of India Ashok Kumar, Chief Commissioner, Bharat Scouts and Guides N A Khan, Joint Secretary, School Games Federation of India, P S Brar, Additional Secretary, School Games Federation of India, K S Murti, besides international players and sports lovers were present on the occasion.
