Ambala wins Air Force School basketball title

JAMMU, Sep 7: Ambala School clinched the winners’ trophy in the Western Air Command (WAC) Inter-Air Force School (AFS) Basketball Tournament outplaying AFS Jammu 33-32 in a thrilling contest that took place at Air Force School, Satwari, here today.
Winning the hard-liner, Pathankot School remained second runners-up in the competition. In this five-day long competition, seven Air Force Schools of Western Air Command participated. The participating teams represented Pathankot, Ambala, Palam, Hindon, Sarsawa, Chandigarh and host Jammu.
In the final and valedictory function, Air Officer Commanding Air Force Station Jammu, Air Commodore, Nitin Sathe was the chief guest. He gave away winners and runners-up trophies as also medals and certificates to the position holders.
In his address, the chief guest appreciated the efforts put up by all the participants and enriching the spectators with overwhelming moments. He further said that sports provide an excellent pathway for young people to learn new skills, become more confident and maximize their potential.
He praised the efforts of Jammu team captain, Ujjawal Kumar, who was declared player of the tournament.
Earlier, Principal of the host Air Force School, Jammu, Vikesh Sandhal presented a brief note of the tournament. The Championship was declared open by Group Captain, S Pati C Adm O Air Force Station Jammu in the presence of Flt Lt Karishma Sethi, OIC Air Force School Jammu.
