JMC to come up with 3 story parking

JAMMU, Sep 6 : Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) has decided to develop three-story parking place backside of Jammu Town Hall building. Project is aimed at getting relief from saturated scenario of prevailing traffic adjustment, besides, creating facility at modern lines at the cost of about Rs 3 crores.
New parking place would help the visitors and the staff of the Municipal Corporation to park their vehicle in a systematic way, especially after the corporation elections, the number of visitors will increase and the burden for the vehicle parking will be more.
3 Story parking will be made at the back side of the office of the Municipal Commissioner, which will have the capacity of 100-150 vehicles to be park at one time.
More than 300 vehicles enter the town hall daily and the situation in the existing parking place is worsening by the day.
However, Municipal Commissioner K L Khajuria said that Deputy Chief minister permitted to go ahead for three story parking place and have sanctioned Rs 1.5 crore for the project, but budget can increase up to Rs 4 crore. Detailed Project Report (DPR) is being prepared and after completion of DPR tenders would be flown through e tendering soon, sources informed.
Parking facilities could also be extended to private vehicles, especially to those coming from valley and halt for night. The nominal charge of Rs 50 per night would enable the department to earn business of about Rs 1.5 lakhs per month, well-informed sources added. They said that Urban Development Ministry and JMC authorities have decided to beautify Jammu city with new and advanced infrastructure; besides, fountains and face lifting would be done in public parks and essential destinations.
