Mainstream leaders urge India, Pak to resolve Kashmir

SRINAGAR, Sep 9: Welcoming the upcoming Foreign Minister talks between India and Pakistan in Islamabad, various mainstream party leaders have urged India and Pakistan to resolve Kashmir issue on priority basis for the establishment of permanent peace in South Asia. Urging the two neighbours to come on table to hold talks on Kashmir issue, Dr. Mehboob Beig, M. Yosuf Tarigami, Hakeem Mohahamad yaseen and Engineer Rasheed while advocating the dialogue between India and Pakistan have said that the participation of Kashmiri in dialogue process is inevitable.
Describing the Kashmir issue as main bone of contention between the two countries, Baig said that the two countries have fought three wars in past and now time has come when both countries should continue the dialogue till they reach at logical conclusions. “If there is any alternative better than the autonomy, we would appreciate and accept that” said Baigh while describing autonomy as the best solution for the Kashmir issue. Describing the Four point formula presented by former Pakistan Perveez Musharraf as important step in way of resolution of Kashmir he said that these kind of steps and initiatives are need of an hour to be taken at earliest.
Giving due importance to opening of various routes across the border he said that travelling across the border like travelling within State from one district to another district along with trade and business would be a major building confidence measures.
Taliking to KNS, national conference senior leader and Member of Parliament Dr. Mehboob Beigh said that the dialogue between the two countries would lead to peace and development. He said that the Kashmir issue cannot be put on the back burner. “I suggest that both the countries should continue the dialogue. There are elements who don’t want these two countries to go for peace and do the harm like Mumbai attacks.” he added.
CPI(M) State secretary M. Yosuf Tarigami said that the meeting between foreign Ministers of two countries is of very important nature and both countries should make efforts and progress to make bright future than to repetitions of bad memories of past. “Establishment of permanent peace in the Valley is in the interest of south Asia’s peace” he said.
Welcoming the Krishna-Hina talks he expressed his hope for the better outcome of talks. He said that the both countries have various issues which need to be addressed through talks; however, the need is to put sincere and honest effort to resolve them. He suggested the leadership of both countries too resolve issues amicably as it is the only way to react out at logical conclusions.
While talking to KNS, PDF Chairman Hakeem Mohd Yaseen said that both countries need to initiate sincere and honest efforts in holding talks and every effort should have its own seriousness.
He said that leadership of both countries should not issue unnecessary statements as it gives an impression in the mind of common people that nothing serious on issue is happening. He said that Kashmir being the bone of contention is the biggest hurdle in progress of relation between two neighbours and without any reluctance both need to begin on meaningful dialogue. He said that the both countries do not have to realize and accept the reality of the Kashmir issue and to draw the roadmap for holding meaningful talks and in between neither mainstream nor separatists could be ignored.
Hakim said that no resolution of K-Issue is possible without the active participation of Kashmiri people in holding talks. “People of valley have suffered a lot and most since 1947 and K-Issue and worse adverse affect on its economy and education. He urged the both countries to be serious on the issue in talks on humanitarian ground.
