Rich tributes paid to Mushtaq
SRINAGAR, Sep 10 (KNS): The 17th death anniversary of renowned photojournalist Mushtaq Ali was observed today by the journalist fraternity throughout the Valley.
Mushtaq Ali, a photojournalist working for Agency France-Press and Asian News International, was killed when a parcel bomb addressed to Yusuf Jameel, Srinagar correspondent for the BBC, exploded in his hands on September 7.
The package, which had been delivered to Jameel's office by an unidentified woman wearing a black burqa, was opened by Mustaq, while Jameel was on the phone.
Mushtaq got seriously injured in the explosion and died three days later on 10th September, 2012.
On the occasion of Mushtaq Ali’s death anniversary journalists representing different organizations remembered Mushtaq and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
Jammu and Kashmir Young Journalists Association (JKYJA) has also expressed solidarity with the family of Mushtaq Ali and prayed for the peace of departed soul.
The day is being commemorated every year, with journalists visiting Martyrs’ Graveyard at Eidgah to offer Fatheaha at Ali’s grave.
Management of Kashmir News Service (KNS) has also expressed heartfelt sympathies with the family of the deceased.
Journalists including Yosuf Jameel, Sheikh Mushtaq Ahmad, Javaid Ahmad Mir, Shakeel Ahmad Bakshi, Noor Mohamad Kawal, Farooq Wani, Mudasir Yaqoob (KNS) and others visited Martry’s Graveyard and offered Fatehkhwani.
