| | Strange Happenings in Railway Stations..! | | | With Mamata Banerjee's party withdrawing support to the UPA government, strange happenings have been reported in railway stations: "This is unbelievable," said the stationmaster of a small station, "People are actually dancing on the platforms, what could be the reason? Hey mister this is railway property why are you dancing here?" "Because now I know my parents will arrive safe!" grinned the young man as he did a solo dance then with a twirl and a whirl joined the rest of the dancers. "And my husband coming from Chennai, will also arrive in one piece!" said a newly married bride, as she blushed, but continued dancing daintily on the platform. "Here have a sweet," said the young man as he tried to draw the stationmaster into his dancing group. "Sir I don't think you should be seen here," said a ticket collector to his boss the stationmaster, "You could be put in jail, if Didi finds out." "That is why we are dancing." said the young man and young bride together, "Because she is no more going to be around! She has gone back to Bengal." "With her man out of the railway ministry, train travel will become like before!" "When people reached their destinations alive!" "With their limbs intact!" "Luggage not robbed on the way!" "And reaching in time, not after a few days!" The men and women on the platform danced away to glory, holding each others hands and pressing sweets into one another's mouths. The stationmaster, a diabetic forgot his sugar condition and danced with the rest of them, even bringing the reluctant ticket collector into the fray. "Look a cartoonist!" shouted all the people on the platform, looking at a young man sketching on the platform. They crowded round the cartoonist as he drew a caricature of didi leaving a railway station with a mob screaming, 'Go home!' behind her. "Aren't you scared of drawing such a picture?" asked the young bride shyly. "She doesn't rule the railways anymore, only her state," said the cartoonist happily as he drew another picture of the young bride embracing her husband who's train had just arrived-on time. Like I said strange things are happening with Didi withdrawing support to the UPA government, and with her, her railway minister going along; a minister who spent more time in Kolkota than in Delhi. At the airports, airline officials look sadly at dwindling lines, "We should see that Didi comes back," they sigh, "otherwise we will be out of business..!" bobsbanter@gmail.com |
