| | Distt hockey championship: Kashmir Mughals registers facile win | | | JAMMU, Sept 26: Outplaying Friends Club by a solitary goal in the final, Kashmir Mughals lifted the Senior Hockey Championship trophy at Polo ground, here today.
The only goal of the match came through Javaid Nanda in the 42nd minute. Earlier, Kashmir Mughals got five penalty corners but could not convert them into goal. Friends Club too got two goal chances but failed to utilize the opportunities came their way.
In the final, Sheikh Mohd Maqbool was chief guest while manager Polo Ground, Mustaq Ahmed was guest of honour. Among others present were Gurdial Singh, Gurcharanjit Singh and Deedar Singh.
The final was officiated by Rafiq Baba and Pardeep Singh as umpires while Jagjit Singh, Avtar Singh and Gurdeep Singh Sangral were technical officials. This tournament was organised by Hockey Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile, according to the oragnisers, the senior hockey championship of district Budgam shall start from October one. |
