| | Clash in SKUAST over cricket: Partial bandh in RS Pura | | | RS PURA, Oct 4: A partial bandh was observed in RS Pura following clash between two groups of students of Sher-i-Kashmir University of Agriculture Sciences and Technology, Jammu (SKUAST-J) over the results of ICC T-20 World cup cricket match. As the shops and other business establishments remain closed for the day, lesser commercial as well as private vehicles plied on the road. Majority of educational institutions remained closed. The shut down was observed over a call given by Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) and supported by other saffron parties including Shiv Sena, Bajrang Dal and ABVP. The activists of these parties besides students of different institutions held protest demonstrations at main bazaar near Daljit Chowk of RS Pura. They demanded strict action against trouble maker student group of SKAUST. Students of various government institutions boycotted their classes and staged noisy protest. No untoward incident was reported from any corner as elaborate security arrangements were put in place by the district administration. SHO Police Station R S Pura besides SDPO RS Pura Diwakar Singh and SDM RS Pura SP Rakwal monitored the situation minutely. As reported, tension gripped Sher-i-Kashmir University of Agricultural & Sciences (SKUAST)-J campus here following verbal duel between two groups of students over ICC T-20 World cup match results Tuesday night. The situation was tense in the campus following win of Indian team over Pakistan Monday night. |
