| | Kishtwar campus organises lecture on Kashmiri poet | | | KISHTWAR, Oct 9: The department of Kashmiri, Kishtwar Campus today organized an extension lecture on the life and poetry of legendary Kashmiri poet, Late Rasa Javedani. The lecture was attended by the students and faculty members of the Kishtwar Campus. The Director, Kishtwar Campus Prof Shohab Inayat Malik delivered a thought provoking lecture on the life and poetry of Rasa Javedani. He informed that Chenab Valley had produced towering Kashmiri poets like Kamgaar Kishtwar, Ulfat Kishtwari, Wafa Bhaderwahi, Rehmat Ahmed Rehmat and Bashir Bhaderwahi. They all were impressed by Kashmiri poetry of Late Javedani. Prof Shohab informed that Rasa was born at Bhaderwah in 1901 and died on May 27, 1979. After getting his early education in different Schools at Bhaderwah, he joined as Government teacher in MLHS Higher Secondary School Bhaderwah and served the School till his retirement. He was a very popular teacher among his students. Though he started his poetry in Urdu, but later he shifted to Kashmiri and wrote marvelous Kashmiri poems. He was impressed by the great Kashmiri poet Rasool Mir. Prof Malik informed that when the poet’s elder son shifted to Pakistan and became the Vice-Chancellor of Punjab University Lahore, Rasa wrote a Kashmiri poem on the separation, which was later sung by the reputed Kashmiri singer Gulam Nabi Doolbal. This poem gave him a lot of name and fame in Kashmiri poetry. He also said that the renowned Litterateur Mohd Yousuf Taing had written a lot on Kashmiri poetry of Rasa and ranked the latter as fifth top-most Kashmiri poet. The poet’s ghazals have been sung by Sufi Gulam Mohd, Shamima Dev, Raj Begum, Kailash Mehra, Vijay Malla and other towering singers of Kashmiri. Prof Shohab informed that through his Kashmiri poetry, Rasa gave a message of love, brotherhood and communal harmony. In this regard, he quoted some of his Kashmiri versions on Rasa Javedani and informed that in the present era, his poetry had a great relevance as it taught us the values of good human beings. The proceeding of the programme was conducted by Assistant Prof Ali Mohd. Dar, while vote of thanks was presented by Prof M.A. Wani. Among others who attended the programme included, Dr Kaiser Ahmed Malik. Ritu Singh Incharge IT Dept., Dr Zahoor ul Islam Incharge Geology (HSD) Dept., Mubasher Hussain, Liaison officer, Imtiyaz Ahmed Dar, Naveed Anjum Danish, Pardeep Singh, Ashish Sharma, Assistant Programmer. Later, Prof Malik inaugurated University Campus Cafeteria which was constructed in a record time of one month. |
